My personal view is that I would be minded to support legislation to permit assisted dying as long as it contained the right protections and prevented anyone being coerced into such a decision which wasn’t what they really wanted.
The debate around assisted dying is very emotive and there are good arguments on both sides. This area is not a matter of party politics but of conscience, and any vote would be a free one should the law in this area ever be altered. Coping with terminal illness is distressing and difficult both for the patient and their families.
