From Monday 15th June Haslar Bridge will be closed to vehicular traffic for four months whilst it undergoes repairs; unfortunately, this means that the Number 11 bus will no longer travel along its regular route. The initial route suggested by Hampshire County Council excluded Clayhall and Haslar Roads so plans were being put into place to introduce a taxi share service running two days a week.
However, in order to ensure minimum disruption to people travelling along this route, Cllr Alan Scard suggested to Hampshire County Council that the route should be adjusted as follows:
The Ferry, Stoke Rd, Foster Rd, Anglesey Rd, Clayhall Rd as usual, then instead of turning left into Haslar Rd it will bear right into Fort Rd, pass the old Detention Centre, Gilkicker Rd, Clayhall Rd, Anglesey Rd, Foster Rd, Bury Rd, South St and back to the Ferry.
This is a much better option which will ensure that stops on Clayhall Road and Anglesey Road continue to be serviced by the No.11 bus. Unfortunately the No.11 will not return to the Ferry via Stoke Road due to time constraints and so a temporary stop will be placed on South Street, behind Waitrose.
