To mark today's inaugural Save the Children Christmas Jumper Day; local MP Caroline Dinenage stepped out in her finest festive woolly, and is hoping that others will follow suit and don a Christmas jumper in exchange for a £1 donation to save children's lives.
Caroline said:
"I've always been a fan of the Christmas jumper, so I couldn't wait to offer my support to this great campaign that will help raise money to improve the lives of vulnerable children in the UK and overseas."
The fundraising day will see schoolchildren and office workers alike wearing their most festive knitwear complete with woolly reindeer or cross stitched snowman. Over 650,000 people across the UK will be taking part and supporting Save the Children's vital work that helps the world's most vulnerable children.
Save the Children works in more than 120 countries, saving children's lives, fighting for their rights and helping them fulfil their potential. In the world's poorest countries, more than 7 million children die every year from easily preventable causes like diarrhoea and malnutrition. Donning a jumper and making a donation will help pay for items such as mosquito nets and vaccines which help save children's lives.
