Gosport MP Caroline Dinenage has confirmed her commitment to grassroots sport in the local area by signing up as a Parliamentary Sport Champion.
Caroline will work in partnership with Sport Hampshire & IOW to develop opportunities for people of all ages to stay physically active. Sport Hampshire & IOW is part of the nationwide network of County Sports Partnerships which bring together and support local agencies to increase participation in sport.
A keen advocate of sporting opportunities, Caroline said:
"Sport is a great way to keep fit and healthy, and I am delighted that we have outstanding local coaches, volunteers and teachers who are committed to upholding the legacy of London 2012. It is vital we do everything we can to support these leaders in getting people of all ages enthusiastic about sport.
Sport Hampshire & IOW has a great track record for inspiring participation in physical activity and I look forward to working with the organisation more closely in the months ahead."
Since her election, Caroline has been a keen visitor to sports clubs in her constituency, from activities as diverse as gymnastics to lawn bowls. She has worked with Gosport School Sports Partnership to help them deliver the best sporting opportunities for Gosport's young people. She was made a Parliamentary Netball Ambassador, set up a House of Commons netball team and has been a member of the House of Commons ladies tug of war team for Macmillan Cancer Charity.
