Local MP Caroline Dinenage officially opened Gosport Bowling Club's 2016 Season on Saturday.
Gosport Bowling club is a flourishing community facility with in excess of 100 members. Based at Anglesey Gardens, the club was founded in 1925 with one Green - a second Green was added in 1977. The game of Bowls is truly an outdoor sport for all. It can be played by all ages, abilities and gender, making it the perfect sport for anyone.
Caroline had a tour of the club facilities, met the club officials, captains and bowlers before 'delivering the first wood' of the season.
Speaking after the visit, Caroline said:
"This was my 3rd visit to Gosport Bowling Club, it was great to meet the players and officials and have a go at the sport myself. Bowling is good fun – it keeps older players active and healthy long into retirement, but it's also a sport for young people too. We're fortunate to have some great facilities in our area and I would encourage people to come down and check out this fantastic Club."
Gosport Bowling Club have an open day for all ages on Sunday 24 April from 2pm - 4pm. So pop down and have a bowl for free!
