Gosport MP Caroline Dinenage is urging Gosport students to get involved in the National Citizen Service (NCS).
The scheme, which is open to all students taking their GCSEs this summer, combines action-packed fun with helping the community. It will bring 16-year-olds from different backgrounds together to spend three weeks on team-building and outdoors activities before they contribute 30 hours to help improve their local areas.
Caroline has welcomed the news that 660 NAS places will be available across Hampshire, and has written to local headteachers to call on them to promote the scheme.
Commenting on the NCS, Caroline said:
"National Citizen Service is a fantastic idea and a great thing for young people to do. I am delighted that there are 660 places on National Citizen Service for young people in Hampshire and I hope that eventually all children in Gosport will be able to benefit."
"I'm now calling on all Gosport's young people to apply, so that they too have the chance to experience new things, learn new skills, understand how to work as a team, and give something back to the community".
Students across Gosport will soon be hearing from the scheme's providers in their schools, but can access more information about the NCS here: http://nationalcitizenservice.direct.gov.uk/
