Local MP, Caroline Dinenage, has today celebrated the United Kingdom’s departure from the European Union.
The UK will leave the EU at 23:00 this evening (Friday 31 January), after the Withdrawal Agreement Bill passed all stages in the House of Commons and the House of Lords, before being granted Royal Assent by Her Majesty the Queen last week.
Caroline said:
‘After three years of dither, delay, drama, General Elections, endless votes in Parliament; tonight at 11pm the United Kingdom will leave the European Union.
There’s still a way to go, we still have trade deals to do, but whether you voted leave or remain, now is the time for us all to come together and look to the future. To the country, that we want to be and to get behind a fully-functioning Government and to build a prosperous and successful Britain, and a brighter future for the Gosport constituency.’
