Dame Caroline Dinenage, Member of Parliament for Gosport, has sent a letter alongside twelve Parliamentary colleagues, calling on property manager FirstPort to demonstrate that they are taking constituents’ concerns seriously by appearing in Parliament.
Among the concerns of the signatories is a hike in maintenance or service charges on properties which FirstPort manages, where there has also been a corresponding decline in service.
Meanwhile, MPs registered their frustration with FirstPort’s “opaque customer service contact routes” and “poor communication”.
Caroline wrote that it was “disturbing to learn from colleagues that the problems mentioned are not isolated cases”. Signatories represent constituencies from across the country.
Coordinator of the letter Caroline Dinenage said:
“My constituents should not have to rely on the office of their Member of Parliament to progress cases like mould, damp, and potholes with FirstPort. They have had to do this because FirstPort continues to evade responsibility by hiding behind faceless bureaucracy.
“It isn’t good enough, and it’s clear from the signatories on this letter that it isn’t just my constituents who have had issues. We aren’t an isolated case.
“We expect FirstPort to put our fears to rest by coming to Parliament to explain how they intend on rectifying the issues that the letter mentions.”
