Gosport MP, Caroline Dinenage, has welcomed new funding awarded to Gosport & Fareham Inshore Rescue Services (GAFIRS).
The government funding is part of a £1 million package being awarded to dozens of charities working to keep coastal and inland waters around the country safe, helping with the cost of new equipment to help volunteer search teams save lives.
GAFIRS will receive £6,942.60, to ensure that it can continue to keep people safe on and around the Solent.
Commenting, Caroline said:
"I am delighted that the Conservatives in government have recognised the fantastic work done by GAFIRS here in the Solent and are providing this valuable support.
"The volunteers of GAFIRS are our unsung heroes – their commitment saves lives and on behalf of the whole community, I extend my sincere thanks to them for their work."
