Deal or No Deal, EEA and Swiss citizens have until at least the 31st December 2020 to apply for the EU Settlement Scheme.
Just a few months after the Scheme opened, over 1 million EEA and Swiss citizens and their families have already been granted status across the country. The EU Settlement Scheme offers EU citizens the security they need to live, work, study and access benefits and services that they have now.
A £4 million marketing campaign has been launched by the Home Office to encourage citizens to apply, engaging with key stakeholders, administrations and community groups and authorities. A further £9 million has also been granted to 57 voluntary and community sector organisations to provide outreach to the most vulnerable and at-risk citizens who may need to apply.
Gosport MP, Caroline Dinenage, commented:
"EEA and Swiss citizens in Gosport are our families, neighbours and friends. They contribute so much to our local community and have the right to remain in Gosport as we leave the EU.
"I encourage all to apply for settled status and ensure that their rights are protected, whether we leave with a deal or not."
