Gosport MP, Caroline Dinenage, is urging local people to take advantage of the Gosport Heritage Open Days which are taking place across the area again this weekend.
Heritage Open Days give people the chance to discover architectural treasures and enjoy a wide range of tours, events and activities that bring Gosport's history and culture to life. In total, there will be over 75 events taking place at sites across Gosport including The Diving Museum, HMS Collingwood, HMS Sultan and Haslar Royal Naval Cemetery. Caroline attended Gosport Heritage Open Day Events last weekend including “Feeding the Navy - Rum, Beer & Biscuits” and “Grange Airfield: teaching the World to fly”.
Speaking ahead of the second weekend of events, Caroline said: "Each year I look forward to the Heritage Open Days which offer local people a terrific insight into our area's rich cultural and military history. We are so lucky to have such a wide range of notable historic sites on our doorstep and I would urge everyone looking for something to do this weekend to get involved with the Open Days. I had a great time at Royal Clarence Yard learning the history of Cooperage Green and how it operated to ensure the Navy was well fed!"
The Heritage Open Days are taking place this weekend from Thursday 13th September to Sunday 16th September. For a full programme of events and details of availability, visit: http://www.gosportheritage.co.uk/events-table/.
