Local MP Caroline Dinenage today helped re-launch Lee-on-the-Solent's ICANGO buses which have a new livery thanks to sponsorship from local estate agents, Eckersley White.
ICANGO is an organisation working in partnership with St. Faith's Church and Gosport Voluntary Action to operate three minibuses for community trips. This community service is operated by volunteers who also drive and clean the mini buses. It organises around 40 community trips per month for residents of Lee-on-the-Solent.
Today's event celebrated a £1000 sponsorship by Eckersley White which will ensure that the valuable community resource can be maintained.
Speaking after the event, Caroline said:
"We all know that local services are under considerable pressure so schemes such as this, which are run by volunteers, offer a lifeline to vulnerable people.
We are extremely fortunate to live in a community where people are prepared to give up their time to help others and I would like to commend all of those who work so hard to ensure that ICANGO can operate."
Caroline is a keen advocate of volunteering and hosts an annual reception in Westminster to personally thank local volunteers for their hard work and dedication.
