Gosport MP Caroline Dinenage was delighted to invite the Malagasy Olympic delegation to Westminster last week.
The seven-strong contingent from the remote African island included the country's best swimmers, weightlifters and runners. The group were given a tour of Parliament, taking in Westminster Hall, the House of Commons and the House of Lords before sitting down to lunch.
After receiving the athletes, Caroline said:
"It was a great honour to invite this very special group to Parliament. Their battle to reach the top of their sport and participate in the Olympic Games is a fantastic achievement and serves as a real inspiration."
After the tour, weightlifter, Harinelina Rakotondramanana said:
"I really enjoyed our visit to the Houses of Parliament and learning about the history of these magnificent buildings; it was a brilliant end to a fantastic Games!"
