Local MP Caroline Dinenage cut the ribbon at the refurbished Alverstoke Post Office during an opening ceremony last week.
Alverstoke Post Office has undergone a number of alterations since its temporary closure in August and is now open for business again. As well as a new open plan counter which will be much more accessible to customers, the branch will now stay open until 5:30pm on Saturdays.
Speaking after the event, Caroline said:
"Thanks to the recent transformations, Alverstoke Post Office is now almost completely unrecognisable. I'm sure the modern and spacious environment will be hugely popular with customers, as will the longer opening hours!
I was delighted to see so many members of the community out celebrating the launch of the newly modernised Post Office. It really shows how much local people value the services of the village Post Office – even in the age of emails and Facebook."
The refurbishment of Alverstoke Post Office is part of a major modernisation programme across the Post Office network designed to make it easier for customers to do business, through longer opening hours and modern open plan environments.
The new opening hours are Monday to Saturday: 9:00am – 5:30pm.
