Gosport MP Caroline Dinenage has voted against the House of Lords Reform Bill.
In a speech in the House of Commons following the Bill's second reading this week, she described the reform as 'unjustified and indefensible'.
The Bill, which proposes the introduced of elected senators on single, 15-year terms, was condemned by Caroline as a 'half-baked, illogical muddle'. She stressed that there would be no means to hold the senators to account, and that the expertise and knowledge of the current Lords would be lost.
Caroline was joined by over 90 Conservative colleagues in opposing the Bill's proposals, which are set to cost approximately half a billion pounds over five years.
