Local MP Caroline Dinenage will be wearing a hat made by the children at Alverstoke Infant School to all of her meetings on Friday in support of Brain Tumour Research. WearAHatDay was created by Brain Tumour Research, and is the UK's largest and most famous national brain tumour awareness and fundraising campaign.
Caroline explained:
"Alverstoke Infant School made me this glorious, nautical themed, hat for Wear A Hat Day on Friday in aid of Brain Tumour Research. I am wearing it with pride to raise awareness of brain tumours, and in memory of Joe Gower, a pupil from the school who sadly died from a brain tumour last year.
"Research into brain tumours receives less than 1% of national cancer research spending in the UK yet this devastating disease, with which over 16,000 people are diagnosed each year, kills more children and adults under the age of 40 than any other cancer.
I am hoping that by wearing a hat and making a donation to the charity on the 28th March we will be helping fund the scientists who are investigating to find more effective treatments and ultimately a cure."
