“The hatred espoused by groups like Hezbollah have no place in our society. I warmly welcome this vote in keeping my local constituency and the country safe.” Caroline Dinenage MP
Local MP, Caroline Dinenage, has hailed yesterday’s vote in Parliament to ban the political wing of the extremist group Hezbollah as a vital step to improve the country’s security.
The group’s military wing has already been banned by the EU, but yesterday Parliament voted to proscribe the political wing of the organisation. This follows similar calls by our military allies such as the Dutch and the United States.
Showing support for Hezbollah could result in a prison sentence of up to ten years.
Commenting Caroline said: “One of the prime responsibilities of Government is to protect its citizens.
Labour banned the military wing of Hezbollah in 2008 and I am pleased that yesterday Parliament took the decision to ban the political wing.
Hate has no place in our society.”
