Gosport MP Caroline Dinenage has welcomed announcements in the Budget which will help workers, savers and businesses across her constituency.
This afternoon, the Chancellor revealed that businesses operating within Enterprise Zones will benefit from extended tax breaks which will promote further investment. This is a particularly welcome announcement for the Daedalus Enterprise Zone which will play an integral part in generating local jobs and prosperity. In addition, reduced energy bills will help manufacturers located on the site and around the local area.
The Budget also delivered good news for hardworking people. In the Gosport constituency, 390 further people will be taken out of income tax altogether from April 2015 and 40,853 will experience a tax cut. These people will be in a better position to save thanks to the simpler and more flexible ISA, the new zero pence tax rate on savings up to £5,000 and a new Pensioner Bond which will offer a better return than anything available now. Furthermore, the tax on bingo will be halved, helping to protect local bingo halls, such as Crown Bingo in Gosport, and those who frequent them.
A reduction in VAT on fuel for the Hampshire and Isle of Wight Air Ambulance as well as Inshore Rescue boat services such as GAFIRS will help to ensure that local emergency services are better equipped to carry out their duties. Search and rescue services will also benefit from funding from LIBOR fines.
Caroline commented:
"This Budget has delivered good news for Gosport, Stubbington, Lee-on-the-Solent and Hill Head. With extended tax breaks at Daedalus and reduced costs for manufacturers, I am confident that today's announcements will help to stimulate growth and prosperity in our area.
Hearing that such a large number of people in the Gosport constituency will see a reduction in their tax bill is also fantastic news and shows that this Government is committed to standing up for hardworking people."
Today's announcements are part of the Government's wider long-term economic plan to give economic security to the families of Britain.
