Gosport MP Caroline Dinenage today welcomed news that First Hampshire bus company have decided to review changes made to local bus routes last year and re-instate some services.
Caroline arranged a meeting with Marc Reddy, First Hampshire's Commercial and Business Growth Director, in November after a number of her constituents expressed their concerns at the revised timetable via letters, emails and during her regular advice surgeries.
Following the announcement, Caroline said:
"When I met with First Hampshire in November they promised to review their decision if enough people contacted them about the changes. It's great news for all the residents who wrote to First Hampshire expressing their concerns and refreshing that a big company like this has kept to their word, listened and acted. Although not all of the bus routes have been re-instated, it's clear that First Hampshire have taken onboard the concerns of my constituents – their loyal customers"
Among the most popular routes to be affected are the morning service to Bay House School and the No. 11 service which will now travel via Elson and San Diego Road.
The new timetable will start from 17th March - updated timetable booklets (including route and network maps) will be available from the First Travel Shops in Portsmouth (The Hard), Gosport and Fareham from the end of February.
