Dame Caroline Dinenage, Member of Parliament for Gosport, recently hosted the Minister for Disabled people, Mims Davis MP, in her constituency.
The purpose of the Ministerial visit was to engage with the work being done by the Gosport Job Centre Plus, which is one of only eleven Health Model Offices (HMOs) across the country.
HMOs are a network of specialist Jobcentres, introduced in 2019 to develop and trial promising ideas and initiatives. In particular, HMOs intend to provide more support to disabled people and people with health conditions.
Caroline and Mims were joined by local JobCentre managers who discussed how the HMO system has supported claimants with complex needs.
Speaking after the visit, Caroline said:
“Secure employment is vital for ensuring personal independence, well-being, and satisfaction, so it’s important that those who need additional help finding a job get the tailored support that they need.
“I’m delighted Mims was able to come and see the fantastic work that Gosport Job Centre Plus is doing, as well as hearing about the successes of the Government’s HMO programme.”
Mims Davis MP, Minister for Disabled People, said:
“I was delighted to meet with local MP, Dame Caroline Dinenage to visit this brilliant new style health model JCP office in Gosport, one of a number across the country.
“This is an exemplar of the empathetic service we deliver in every community. So, it was fantastic to join Dame Caroline to meet this dedicated DWP team alongside our local NHS partners in Gosport. This was a great opportunity to highlight all that goes on in our Jobcentres which help people to progress at a very age and career stage. I encourage anybody who needs extra support on employment and wellbeing to pop in and meet the excellent local programme team.“
