Gosport MP, Caroline Dinenage, has welcomed the further easing of lockdown measures announced today.
Caroline has corresponded with many local salon-owners, tattooists and local gyms and gym-goers, and raised their concerns direct with Ministers on in recent weeks.
This will be welcome news for many fantastic businesses in the Gosport Constituency, including Fitness24 Gym who ran a campaign with its members, lobbying for a date to open.
This afternoon the Government has announced that beauticians, tattooists and salons can open from Monday 13 July and that gyms and some leisure facilities will be able to open from Saturday 25th July.
In addition, outdoor pools can open from this coming Saturday and some outdoor opera, theatre and music performances can resume from this coming Monday.
Culture Secretary Oliver Dowden said:
“The reopening of gyms is the news millions across the country have been waiting for with many people desperate to jump on a spinning bike or dive into a pool.
Our comprehensive guidance will ensure gyms, pools and leisure centres have the support they need to reopen safely for their customers and staff.
Helping people return to gyms safely will also help the nation get match-fit to defeat this virus.”

“This is such welcome news for many business owners across the Gosport Constituency. I have spoken to many salon owners, tattooists, gyms and their customers in recent weeks who were so eager to see a date for reopening announced and I raised these concerns with Ministers.
Today’s announcement will be hugely welcome, not only for the owners and staff of our fantastic local businesses, but for the health and well-being of many across the Gosport Constituency!”
