Local MP, Caroline Dinenage, has welcomed the launch of a Government initiative designed to help veterans access the support they need as quickly as possible.
The 'Veteran's Gateway' website, which was launched this summer, brings together a wealth of information and provides a first point of contact, helping users to access support without delay. Many of the team are veterans themselves, so have first-hand experience of the issues that people face after leaving the Armed Forces. Advisers, who can be contacted by phone, email, text of live chat, work with people on a one-to-one basis, and the service operates 24-hours a day.
'Veteran's Gateway' is funded by the Armed Forces Covenant, and represents the first time a group of this kind has come together formally to deliver a service to help the Armed Forces community. You can visit the website here.
Commenting, Caroline said: ''Veteran's Gateway' is an incredibly sensible initiative which both simplifies and speeds-up access to advice and support. Many excellent organisations support the Armed Forces community, but navigating the available services can be tricky. A one-stop-shop bringing together a wealth of experience and expertise will ensure that unnecessary delays are avoided. I'm really glad the Government is taking its commitment to the Armed Forces community, as set out in the Armed Forces Covenant, seriously, and I would encourage anyone in need of support to make use of this important resource.'
