Further to my previous statement on fuel, I wanted to update everyone on the current situation.
Locally, my team and I have audited all of the petrol stations within the Gosport Constituency to find out their latest situation with regard to fuel deliveries and fed this back to the Cabinet Office and Department of Transport.
Fuel deliveries have been made to most of the sites, however word quickly spreads causing mass queues and stations to run out again.
I fully understand the impact this is having locally on motorists, many of us who have previously showed restraint now have concerns about fuel levels.
I also share the concerns surrounding road safety and have contacted Gosport & Fareham Police Chief Inspector regarding the need for greater traffic management in these unprecedented times.
The latest update is that 250 Military drivers have now been mobilised and trained. The first tranche will be delivering fuel from today, the second will be delivering from tomorrow (5 October).
