Local MP Caroline Dinenage was one of thousands of local residents to welcome the Olympic Torch to Gosport this weekend.
The Torch arrived on Day 58 of the epic 70-day journey around the UK. It was carried by local community heroes through Fareham, Bridgemary and Gosport. The flame was then taken onboard the Gosport ferry for the well-known trip to Portsmouth for the evening celebrations.
Caroline Dinenage, who long campaigned to secure the Torch's route through the area, said the event was a great success for the whole community. She said:
"It was fantastic to see the streets of Gosport and Bridgemary absolutely packed for the day's celebrations. The flame's ride on the Gosport ferry was a particularly highlight, and I am sure our community will remember this fantastic day for many years to come".
