If re-elected on 8th June I will continue to wear unusual accessories to promote small businesses!
During difficult economic times we rely on the hard work & enterprise of our small businesses to grow this country out of recession. So, on becoming this area's MP, as a former business owner, I was clear that we needed to do more to support our fantastic small businesses.
I came up with the idea of starting the 'Bridging the Gap' fund using the Governments Regional Growth Funding. I then talked The News and the Solent Local Enterprise Partnership into supporting the idea and since then the fund has giving small businesses in the region an opportunity to bid for over £4M funding - supporting them to flourish & grow.
Every year I support Small Business Saturday and provide posters and information to small businesses across the constituency encouraging them to take part.
I have also organised and hosted a number of events for small businesses and aspiring entrepreneurs to gain information and advice such as Disability Confident and an Enterprise Fair during Enterprise Week.
If re-elected on 8th June I will continue to back our small businesses
