If re-elected on 8th June I will continue to tackle local issues.
The issue of abandoned or untaxed vehicles in the Gosport area has been a growing feature of my mailbag in recent times.
To take action, I invited the Driver and Vehicle Licensing Agency to a meeting to discuss the issue and attempt to put a plan in place to start to resolve this escalating problem. The meeting was also attended by representatives from Hampshire Constabulary, Gosport Borough Council, Gosport Borough Council's Streetscene department and Hampshire Trading Standards.
The meeting was hugely valuable in pinpointing the exact powers of each organisation and how we can all work together in an effort to reduce the problems that abandoned and untaxed vehicles are causing in Gosport. We agreed a plan of action which has already seen over 200 cars dealt with in Gosport.
Since December, DVLA have visited Gosport on a number of occasions to deal with untaxed cars and have clamped 115 vehicles, stickered 65 vehicles and carried out instant lifts on 34 vehicles.
If re-elected on June 8th I will continue to pressure the responsible organisations to tackle issues like that blight people's daily lives.
