"For the first time in over forty years we will have full control over who enters our country; tangible evidence we are delivering on the referendum result." Caroline Dinenage MP
Local MP, Caroline Dinenage, has today welcomed new plans unveiled by the Home Secretary to give back control of immigration policy to the UK Parliament.
The Immigration White Paper released today will end freedom of movement of people from the EU and ensuring that talent and skills are prioritised rather than country of origin under the EU system.
There will be a new visa route for skilled workers, no cap for professions such as doctors and engineers and no limit on the number of international students coming to our world class universities.
Commenting Caroline said: "These plans demonstrate the clear mandate from the British people that they want control over immigration.
However, by maximising the highly skilled – rather than the arbitrary EU system – Britain remains open to business and international talent.
This is about controlling our borders not closing them."
