After the Scottish Referendum in 2014, it was clear that action needed to be taken to prevent Scottish MPs from voting on English-only issues. I set up a petition both online and in my Gosport office, calling for English votes for English issues to be introduced to the House of Commons as soon as possible. Almost 400 local people signed the petition and in the last week of Parliament, I formerly delivered it to the Speaker in the Chamber of the House of Commons.
We want to be able to decide our own priorities on issues such as health, education and local government, just as the people of Scotland are currently able to do.
