Gosport MP, Dame Caroline Dinenage, has joined the Conservative Animal Welfare Foundation (CAWF) as a Patron.
The Conservative Animal Welfare Foundation was established in 2016 to raise awareness on the lives of billions of animals reared on intensive farms around the world and how this impact upon animal welfare, the environment and people’s health. They want to highlight the action people can take to help advance animal welfare and encourage the government to fulfil their commitments to this important agenda.
Caroline has long been an animal welfare campaigner, a founding member of Conservatives Against Fox Hunting, the ‘Blue Foxes’ and former Patron of the RSPCA.
Animal welfare is also a matter of huge concern amongst the public, who frequently look to Government to take the lead in both maintaining and improving standards.
Commenting on her new position, Dame Caroline said:
“I am very excited by this opportunity to continue to champion animal welfare. As a professed animal lover, I believe the UK should have some of the strongest animal welfare legislation in the world.
The last two years has seen a world-leading animal welfare agenda set in motion by Defra, and it is important that these measures are delivered under our new leadership.”
Lorraine Platt, Co-Founder of Conservative Animal Welfare Foundation, commented:
“We are pleased to welcome Dame Caroline Dinenage MP as a Patron of CAWF. We have always greatly appreciated Caroline’s support for our animal welfare campaigns and look forward to working with her more closely to ensure Conservative Party Manifesto commitments are honoured.”
