Gosport MP Caroline Dinenage has been elected to serve on one of Parliament's official committees.
The local MP was chosen to be the new member of the Science and Technology Select Committee. The cross-party committee plays an important role in scrutinising the work of Government and conducting inquires for presentation to Parliament, on issues related to science, engineering, technology and research.
Speaking after her election, Caroline said:
"I am honoured to have been elected to the Science and Technology Select Committee and look forward to making a significant contribution to its work. Select committees have a vital role to play in examining legislation and proposing reforms, and I'll work hard to ensure that we put science, technology and thorough research at the heart of Government policy."
Caroline will bring to the committee her expertise on the NATO Science and Technology Committee where she is Vice Chair of the Food & Energy Security Sub Committee.
The Select Committee is known for its broad remit, and has recently held investigations into alcohol guidelines, science in international development, and the Government's role in promoting engineering.
