Gosport MP Caroline Dinenage has welcomed figures from the Office of National Statistics which show that unemployment has fallen yet again in her constituency.
The figures for May 2014 show that the unemployment rate in the Gosport area is down to 1.9%, compared to a rate of 3.2% when the Government took office in May 2010. The youth unemployment rate also fell over the same period, down from 5.9% in May 2010 to 3.4% in May of this year.
Commenting on the promising figures, Caroline said:
"Over the past four years this Government has been committed to breaking down the longstanding barriers to employment and getting people back into work. The figures released today show that the people of Gosport have really benefited from supportive policies, as well as targeted assistance from local employment organisations.
There is always more to be done, however, I am delighted that unemployment is at its lowest point in four years."
The national average unemployment rate currently stands at 6.6%.
