Gosport MP Caroline Dinenage has marked Holocaust Memorial Day by signing the Holocaust Educational Trust's Book of Commitment in the House of Commons.
Today marks the 69th anniversary of the liberation of the Nazi concentration and death camp Auschwitz-Birkenau, the site of the largest mass murder in history. Last week, Caroline took the opportunity to honour those who died during the Holocaust as well as the extraordinary Holocaust survivors who work tirelessly to educate young people about what they endured.
Following the signing, Caroline said:
"It is vital to commemorate Holocaust Memorial Day, not only as the anniversary of the liberation of Auschwitz-Birkenau but also as an important opportunity to remember and honour all the victims of genocide.
I encourage all my constituents to mark the day and to commit to working together to combat prejudice and racism today."
Shortly after becoming an MP, Caroline visited Auschwitz-Birkenau with a group of sixth-form students from Bay House School and St. Vincent College.
