MP Caroline Dinenage, has today welcomed the news from the Office of National Statistics, that in December last year, unemployment here in Gosport was down again.
Caroline has always been committed to increasing the number of jobs in our local area and hearing that there are 96 more people employed than this time last year is very welcome news.
Following the publication of the data, Caroline said:
"When I was elected in 2010, there was only half a job for every person of working age in Gosport. The polices of this Government are ensuring that the private sector is growing day by day. With more exciting developments coming to Gosport thanks to the Local Enterprise Partnership and the Bridging the Gap fund, I am confident that we are on the road to a sustainable recovery. I believe passionately in our area and the skills that our local people possess and will never be shy in selling Gosport as a fantastic place to do business."
The current rate of unemployment in the Gosport is at 3.4% compared to the national average of 5.2%. With the policies that the Government is enacting , aiming to reduce this figure still further.
