Gosport MP Caroline Dinenage pushed the Government today to cut even more red tape as she spoke up in support of small businesses in a debate in Parliament.
Having launched a successful crackdown on bureaucracy in the form of the Red Tape Challenge the Government has committed to scrapping or improving at least 3000 regulations, while the one in, one out rule on regulations is estimated to have saved businesses around £1 billion in regulatory costs.
Caroline welcomed the progress made by the Government to support British businesses, but pushed the Government to go even further in eradicating bureaucracy and backing British innovation.
Condemning the bureaucracy that so often stifles growth, Caroline said:
"It is good news for small businesses that this Government has made a firm and meaningful commitment to strip back bureaucracy and support manufacturers. As we move from rescue to recovery we now must go even further to cut red tape and back British businesses through the early adoption of innovation."
"SMEs are often referred to as the lifeblood of our economy. We must match these words with action, and eradicate the lethargic culture of bureaucracy that can clog up the procurement process and hold back British businesses."
Caroline has built up a strong track record of supporting enterprise and innovation locally, playing a key role in the creation of the Daedalus Enterprise Zone and the 'Bridging the Gap' Regional Growth Fund for new and growing businesses in Gosport, Portsmouth & Havant.
