Local MP Caroline Dinenage has set her sights on promoting Gosport's world-class sailing and yachting facilities, as she chairs an event next week at Royal Clarence Marina.
Monday's meeting will see Caroline bring together over 50 representatives from the peninsula's marine industry; from sailing clubs to round-the-world racing teams, all united in their goal to raise the area's profile in the sailing world.
Speaking ahead of the first meeting, Caroline said:
"With over 20 miles of stunning waterfront, three marinas and breathtaking views, Gosport peninsular has all the ingredients necessary to make it the south coast's premier marine and sailing destination. This is something Gosport already excels at - we have an enormous amount of expertise in the marine industry right on our doorstep, so the economic potential is huge. I continue to work hard to bring opportunities to Gosport and hope this will pave the way for greater investment in our area."
Caroline will be working with local stakeholders as well as the British Marine Federation and Solent LEP to formulate a strategy designed to promote Gosport's reputation in this area. This project continues Caroline's work in marketing the Gosport peninsula as an excellent place to do business. It comes off the back of her success with the Daedalus Strategy Group which has seen the creation of £25m Enterprise Zone and Regional Growth Fund investment at the former military site.
