Gosport MP Caroline Dinenage visited the headquarters of a key local employer this week.
The local MP was welcomed to the Farnborough headquarters of QinetiQ, which maintains the Haslar Marine Technology Park in Gosport.
The MP looked at how QinetiQ is using commercial off the shelf applications to develop future technologies and skills. She also discussed how this high-tech British company is investing in key areas of future potential in technology markets and building the intellectual capital of its people.
During the visit, Caroline was shown how world leading British technology is being used to support European Space Agency programmes in order to move to commercial exploitation. She also viewed the new technology, Optasense, which can turn standard telecoms fibre into a listening device up to 50km in length, and in doing so protect vital assets on the railway network.
Caroline was also given an overview of QinetiQ's Training and Simulation Services and discussed the value of science and technology investment to defence markets.
Speaking after the visit, Caroline said:
"I was delighted to be able to visit QinetiQ and see much of the inspiring, ground-breaking work taking place on the site. This company has immense potential, not just to promote the development of high-end British jobs, but to keep the UK at the forefront of international innovation."
