Gosport MP Caroline Dinenage ran the 'Westminster Mile' today in support of Sport Relief.
Caroline joined with fellow MPs to run a mile for the charity in the local St James's Park. The run is one of many Sport Relief Miles happening nationally, in which young and old across the UK are taking to the streets to challenge themselves, get active, raise cash and change lives.
The charity Sport Relief was launched by Comic Relief in 2002 and raised over £127million in the last year alone. Now, in this Olympic year, they're hoping to do even more to raise money and encourage participation in sport.
Speaking after the race, Caroline said:
"While I certainly wasn't first past the finish line, I am delighted to have taken part in the Sport Relief Mile. As we welcome the Olympics to the UK this year, there's no better time to support Sport Relief as they raise money for a great cause through sport".
The money raised by the MPs and the public for Sport Relief will be spent by Comic Relief to help people living unimaginably tough lives in the UK and across the world's poorest countries.
