Local MP, Caroline Dinenage, joined several charities today as part of World Cancer Day 2020.
Caroline took part in an event organised by the Less Survivable Cancers Taskforce, a body formed in 2017 by six charities representing each of the six most-common less survivable cancers. This body comprises of: Roy Castle Lung Cancer Foundation, Guts UK (stomach cancer), Action Against Heartburn (Oesophageal cancer), the Brain Tumour Charity, Pancreatic Cancer UK and the British Liver Trust.
Attending the event with organisers and patients, Caroline said:
‘It’s great to join the LSC Taskforce to mark World Cancer Day 2020. This is a day that unites people, communities and even countries to raise awareness and take bold action!
It was interesting to hear first-hand about the gap in survival between these cancers and other common cancers, and to hear about the LSCT’s priorities direct from patients and representatives.
The LSCT is a result of significant effort from all charities involved!’
