Local MP, Caroline Dinenage, has today welcomed news that the Government is investing millions of pounds in our local hospitals and mental health services.
Today the Government has announced over £17.3 million of investment in Southampton and Portsmouth Hospitals to deliver improvements to theatres and maternity care.
An additional £3 million to fund 20 additional adolescent beds for Tier 4 CAHMS services.
Commenting on the news Caroline said:
“This is yet more good news for the NHS as we approach its 70th birthday.
Over the last week we have seen additional training places for doctors and midwives, with the lowest paid staff receiving pay-rises and now we are getting further investment in our local hospitals.
This really will make a difference to services locally and I particularly welcome the further investment in young people’s mental health services. This will help improve services and achieve parity of esteem between mental and physical health.
We are now seeing the benefits of the financial prudence we have all had to adopt over the last eight years, with our debt reduced and our economy growing we finally have more money to invest in our vital public services, like the NHS.”
