"Expanding midwife training places by 25% is fantastic news for expectant Mums locally as well as across the Nation." Caroline Dinenage MP
Local MP, Caroline Dinenage, has today welcomed news that the Government will expand midwife training places over the coming years.
The Government has announced a 25% increase in the number of training places available over the next four years. It is anticipated the extra 3000 midwives will deliver continuity of care to help save the lives of 700 babies every year.
This comes just after a week where the Government announced a pay-rise for midwives of between 6-29%.
Commenting Caroline said: "I warmly welcome this fantastic announcement by the Secretary of State over the last weekend to deliver continuity of carer and drive continued improvement in our maternity services.
We all want the safest possible care especially throughout pregnancy and childbirth and this announcement will help us achieve that goal."
