Local MP, Caroline Dinenage, has written to the Secretary of State for MHCLG to request that the appeals for two controversial planning applications are recovered from the Planning Inspector.
Both Fareham Land LP’s plans for up to 75 houses to be developed on Newgate Lane and for Bargate Homes’ plans for up to 115 houses to be developed on the land at Newgate Lane (South) have been appealed by the developers and will now be considered by the Planning Inspectorate due to Fareham Borough Council's failure to determine the applications within the statutory timeframe.
All comments made to Fareham Borough Council to date regarding these applications will be shared with the Planning Inspectorate but people are welcome to make further comments and can do this via https://acp.planninginspectorate.gov.uk/ViewCase.aspx?caseid=3252180 and https://acp.planninginspectorate.gov.uk/ViewCase.aspx?caseid=3252185.
Due to the strong concerns surrounding these applications, Caroline has written to the Secretary of State, Robert Jenrick MP to request the appeals be recovered, and that a decision is made on these applications by the Secretary of State himself rather than the Planning Inspectorate.
Commenting Caroline said:
“If these plans move forward, I’m concerned that this development could close the strategic gap between Gosport and Fareham, put further pressure on our already stretched infrastructure and further pollution into our air.
That is why I have written to the Secretary of State asking him to recover these appeals, which would have devastating effects on our area, and take the decision himself.”
