Gosport MP, Caroline Dinenage, has welcomed the news that 91 new Hampshire Constabulary officers are starting this week.
Caroline has met with local police officers throughout the pandemic, as well as the Hampshire Chief Constable as part of the Local Resilience Forum.
She commented:
“It is fantastic to see over 90 new police officers join our local forces this week to help our response to the pandemic and keep our streets safe.
“I was elected on a manifesto that promised to put more police on our streets and I am really pleased to see that this is already being delivered.
“Having spoken to officers and the Chief Constable, I know that this is a very tough but rewarding career. I wish the new recruits all the best on their first week.”
Earlier in the year Caroline already welcomed that Hampshire Constabulary would see a £26.1 million funding boost to tackle crime.
This follows the announcement this week that over 100 000 people have applied to be police officers between October and August following the Government’s recruitment drive.
The recruitment drive from today will encourage people to “make a difference” and will be broadcasted across TV and radio.

Already across the country 4300 additional officers have been recruited to support emergency workers response to the pandemic outbreak.
