Local MP, Caroline Dinenage, has ended Gosport’s National Apprenticeship Week campaign by hosting a roundtable for local apprentices and providers.
This follows a week-long campaign on Caroline’s social media which highlighted the experiences of those engaged in our local FE Sector. The stars of Caroline’s campaign, who range across industries and sectors have been watched by thousands of viewers across her social media platforms. Caroline invited those who took part to join the roundtable in order to hear their views on how our local FE sector has managed in the difficult past year, and what lessons have been learned going forward.
Joining the call were representatives from the Royal Navy at HMS Collingwood, the Principal and CEO of Fareham College Andrew Kaye, Mark Wells of Blanchard Wells plus many more.
The group also heard from Elizabeth Flegg, Regional Apprenticeships Ambassador for the South East, who spoke about the overall experiences of apprentices in our local area and what lessons have been learned in areas like tech skills over the past year.

“It is fascinating and inspiring in equal measures to hear how our local apprentices and providers have not only coped with the challenges of the past year, but managed to turn them into opportunities too.
We have always known that our local FE sector is one of our strongest and most resilient and the stories and experiences shared today go to prove that. A huge thanks to the stars of my Gosport NAW for their hard work and for joining me today.”

“I was delighted to be take part in today’s Round Table event with Caroline Dinenage MP, discussing how Fareham College has overcome the many challenges to Apprenticeship delivery brought about by the global pandemic. Due to its excellent relationships with employers, dedicated staff and committed learners, the College was successful in securing and fulfilling Apprenticeships for many individuals throughout the crisis and continues to do so. I am immensely proud of how well staff and learners have adapted to the ‘new normal’ and continue to excel in the face of adversity and I believe that Fareham College is extremely well equipped to deliver Apprenticeships and aid the country’s economic recovery.”
