Local MP, Caroline Dinenage, has welcomed the decision made by the Planning Inspector to refuse permission for Fareham Land LP to build up to 75 homes on the Land at Newgate Lane North & the appeal of Bargate Homes Ltd to build up to 115 homes on the Land at Newgate Lane South.
Caroline expressed her objections to both of these planning applications to Fareham Borough Council who refused them; the Planning InspectoratePlanning Inspectorate has been hearing the appeal into these applications.
Today both planning appeals were dismissed and the outline planning permissions sought are refused.
Commenting Caroline said:
“This decision was right for our area. It is vital that we protect this land as a stretch of countryside that keeps communities distinct and prevents urban sprawl, whilst providing valuable green space to the local community.
While understanding that we need new houses, these should first and foremost be built on brownfield sites not green spaces, which are increasingly few and far between in the Solent region.”
