Gosport MP, Caroline Dinenage, has commended the Queen’s Speech today which has introduced 38 Bills to help ease the cost of living, boost economic growth, and make our streets safer across the Gosport Constituency.
Due to mobility issues Her Majesty the Queen was unable to attend parliament today and His Royal Highness, the Prince of Wales delivered the speech, which focused on the British peoples’ priorities, making the most of our Brexit freedoms and getting our country back on track.
This includes Bills that will grow the economy to tackle the cost of living, backing our police to make streets safer, building an affordable, secure energy supply, put patients at the centre of mental health services and ensure better quality homes.
In addition, further changes to enable communities to drive local growth and regeneration, raise educational standards for both schools and higher education, modernise business rates to increase fairness for business owners and improve cyber resilience and digital connectivity across the UK were included in today’s State Opening of Parliament.

“I am really pleased to see a Queen’s Speech that focuses on the priorities of residents across Gosport, Hill Head, Stubbington and Lee-on-the-Solent, including the cost of living, safer streets and giving communities a louder voice in the planning process.
“Importantly, the Bills introduced today will help ease the cost of living, which I know many residents are concerned about. I hope that the measures included in the Energy Security Bill and Social Security Bill reassure constituents that this is an issue the Government are tackling.”
