Local MP, Caroline Dinenage, has welcomed the decision made by the Planning Inspector to refuse permission for Miller Homes & Bargate Homes plans for up to 375 houses on the Land East of Newgate Lane.
Caroline expressed her objections to this planning applications to Fareham Borough Council who refused them; the Planning Inspectorate Planning Inspectorate has been hearing the appeal into these applications.
Yesterday the planning appeal was dismissed, and the outline planning permission sought are refused.
Commenting Caroline said:
“This decision was right for our area. It is vital that we protect this land as a stretch of countryside that keeps communities distinct and prevents urban sprawl, whilst providing valuable green space to the local community.
While understanding that we need new houses, these should first and foremost be built on brownfield sites not green spaces, which are increasingly few and far between in the Solent region.”
