If re-elected on 8th June I will continue to push for better local sports facilities.
Having excellent sporting facilities in our area not only helps maintain a healthy community, it can also develop new talent amongst our young sport players.
I worked closely with Bay House School and Bridgemary School to secure funding for their new facilities – a brand new sports hall and a cutting edge 3G football pitch respectively. Bay House's new hall is now a great community sports hub and the new pitch at Bridgemary is thriving. Both of these facilities will be used by local sports teams as well as school students.
The Gosport Leisure Centre which opened in 2013 keeps sports at the heart of Gosport alongside the newly refurbished Ice Rink.
Sport England has invested £602,855 in Gosport facilities since 2010. Some of the lucky groups include Hill Head, Lee-on-Solent and Hardway sailing clubs, Gosport Bowling Club, Gosport District Scout Council and Gosport Jedi Volleyball. The Gosport Bowling Club's grant funding was spent on improving its facilities which includes a new all-weather pitch.
If re-elected on 8th June I will continue to work closely with our fantastic local sports clubs.
