“It’s reassuring to hear how Hampshire Constabulary will use additional resources to grow local police numbers and tackle crime.” Caroline Dinenage MP
Local MP, Caroline Dinenage, this week heard from Michael Lane, Hampshire’s Conservative Police and Crime Commissioner, how the police force will grow to tackle crime in Gosport.
Under increased funding from the Government and Council Tax precept, Hampshire Constabulary intends to recruit an additional 210 police officers which will increase police numbers locally too.
These efforts will benefit the local community in two ways. Firstly, there will be more police in each district meaning more officer time to investigate local crimes. Secondly. With a plans on tackling high threat crime such as domestic violence, cyber-crime and violent crime this will prevent lower level crime taking place.
Commenting Caroline said: “Hampshire Constabulary has worked hard to ensure that the organisation is lean to respond to crime quickly.
Now however with the growing threat of cybercrime and violent crime it is right that an increase in police are used to tackle these enhanced threats to keep us safe and in so doing prevent further lower level crime taking place in our community.”
