Local MP, Caroline Dinenage, is supporting National Apprenticeship Week 2019, highlighting the benefits of apprenticeships to employers, individuals, local communities and the wider economy in a week-long celebration of apprenticeships.
On Friday, Caroline will be visiting Huhtamaki to meet two of their apprentices who have recently completed their engineering apprenticeship. Caroline will see the projects they have worked on during their time as apprentices and will discuss their future work within the company as engineers.
Caroline said:
"I am really pleased to be meeting two local engineering apprentices who have completed their apprenticeships with Huhtamaki and are now employed by them as engineers!
Gosport has seen a 76% increase in apprenticeships over the last 10 years with 2,460 apprenticeships being started in 2017/18. An apprenticeship gives someone the chance to earn while they learn and get on in their career, while also making sure businesses have the skilled workers they need to grow.
They are changing lives by creating new opportunities for young people to access the quality training they need for the job and create for themselves a better future."

Our Apprenticeship program plays a critical part of our succession planning to the business and we continue to look for positive ways to develop our employees for today and for the future.”
The Week also highlights the huge number of high quality apprenticeship opportunities available at all levels around the country, in a huge variety of sectors, including aviation engineering, nursing, finance and policing.
