Local MP, Caroline Dinenage, has today welcomed Brune Park pupils to Parliament.
The school was visiting Parliament's newly built education service centre. They had the opportunity to take a tour of the Palace of Westminster before taking part in a Q&A session with their very own Member of Parliament, Caroline Dinenage.
The visit comes during Parliament Week, a programme of events and activities that connect people across the UK with Parliament and democracy. Co-ordinated by the House of Commons with support from the House of Lords, Parliament Week has a number of important aspirations.
It seeks to engage audiences with the work of the UK Parliament, MPs and members of the House of Lords, through participative events and activities. It wants to help audiences explore the history of the UK Parliament and think about its role in democracy. Finally, it aims to empower audiences to get involved with the UK Parliament and make their voices heard about issues that matter to them.
Commenting, Caroline said:
"I was delighted to welcome Brune Park to Parliament today and answer their questions about my role as MP. The pupils were very engaging and it was great to hear about their enthusiastic interest in current affairs. Boosting youth engagement with politics is really important to me, which is why I celebrating Parliament Week."
